Although the bar is titanium, the decorative top is sterling silver. Silver can naturally oxidise or sulphidise over time; galvanic surface finishing may slow this process, but cannot completely prevent it. For swimming, sauna use, sleeping, intensive sports or extended water exposure, a simpler titanium belly button ring is generally the more practical choice. Removing this decorative piece during those activities helps preserve the shine of the silver, the condition of the stone settings and the overall appearance of the jewellery.
Care – to keep it beautiful for longer
- Remove it before bathing, swimming, sauna use or prolonged water exposure.
- Avoid perfume, body lotion, sunscreen, hair products and cleaning products coming into contact with the silver top and stones.
- After wearing, gently wipe the titanium bar, ball and decorative top with a soft, dry cloth.
- Store it separately in a dry pouch or jewellery box to help prevent scratching against other jewellery.
- The silver surface can be refreshed carefully with a silver polishing cloth, but avoid rubbing the crystal star, pear-cut stones and prong settings too firmly.
